Smolanka Volodymyr Ivanovych
Work history (experience):1983-1985- resident in Kyiv research Institute of Neurosurgery 1985-1986 – resident of the neurosurgical department in Berehovo regional hospital 1986-1989 – post graduate student of Kyiv Institute of Neurosurgery of the speciality of the Department of Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Hygiene of Uzhhorod National University 1994- 2000 – assistant professor of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and Hygiene of Uzhhorod National University.

From 2001 till now – head of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry and Hygiene of Uzhhorod National University

From 2006 till March 2014 – Director of the Regional Centre of Neurology and neurosurgery (part-time)

Candidate of Medical science since 1990, Doctor of Medical since 2002. The degree of the Associate professor was conferred in 1998, the degree of the professor was conferred in 2015.

Volodymyr Ivanovych   is the author of 139 scientific and education work including those published in the journals “stocke” “Neurology”, “European Journal of Neurology “, He has published 12 manuals for doctors and student, received 2 patents of Ukraine and one inventor’s certificate.

Smolanka V. I supervised one doctor and two candidates of medical sciences. He is a member of the Specializes Academic Council in neurosurgery in “Neurosurgery Institute” of the state university after Romodanov A.P of the national Academy of Science if Ukraine.

He is the President of the Ukrainian Association of neurosurgeons, vice- president of All Ukrainian non-Governmental organisation “Ukrainian Association for struggling strokes”.

Having a good command of several foreign languages, he is a permanent lecturer of European Neurologists Association and a member of training committee at European Association of Neurosurgeons societies.

Smolanka V. I is a deputy is a editor – in – chief of the research practical journal “cerebrum vessel diseases “, a member of the editorial staff of the journals “International Journal of Stroke” and Ukrainian Neurosurgical Journal”.

From 2006 -2010 – deputy of the 5^th session of the Transcarpathian regional council, from 2010 till now – deputy of the 6th session head of the health care (service) committee of the Transcarpathian regional council.

Volodymry Ivanovych is awarded the third-class order of Merit and other awards of the Verhovna Rada of Ukraine and certificate of Merit of the Ministry of PUBLIC Health of Ukraine. He is the first National Medical prize winner in the category “The best medical practitioner”.

The state higher educational establishment. “Uzhgorod National University”, is an inheritor of the higher educational establishment the Collegium , established with permission of the Head of the Austrian state on the legal ground  of the constituent charter issued in Uzhgorod Castle on 2 July 1615.The official date is considered to be October 18,1945.From this day the council of people’s Commissars of the USSR and the central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) adopted a joint resolution on the opening of Uzhgorod State University.

Uzhgorod National University is holding the highest 4^th level of accreditation. It is recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) recognized by (WHO) U.S Education department and General Medical Council of Great Britain. After passing the medical degree from the University. Student are eligible for USMLE & PLAB tests. It is one of the best universities of the carpethian region.

FACILITIES FOR RESEARCH & STUDY

UNIVERSITY RESERCH LIBRARY COMPRISES MORE THAN 1.5 MILLOIN document on different storage media. Its depository receives more than 15 thousand Ukrainian and foreign documents, about 250 academic periodicals. Thousands of unique specimens of book printing, incunabula which came out in Latin before 1500 and the Ostrog Bible printed by Ivan Fyodorov in 1581 in particular, are being stored in the library.

The museum of zoology comprises 5 thousand exhibits from different continents; its depository has more than 150 thousand specimens of fauna. It has best in central Europe collection of birds of prey and owl collected in Zakarpattia and Eastern Slovakia.

The Botanic Gardens take up almost 90 hectares of land. More than 500 words of species and bushes, about 450 subtropical crops are cultivated here.

Alpine Biocentre “Kolochava”, located in Zakarpatski Verkhovyna, Mizhgirya district gives a unique opportunity for biology student to have a summer practise in natural  field conditions

MEDICAL COURSE

Doctor of Medicine Course (MD): The syllabus is aimed at 5+1 academic years. The student master the basic disciplines of medical and biological profile as well as various clinical subject. On successful completions of study graduates are qualified as physician with the title of Doctor of Medicines. Student can have the option of studying either in English or other Languages.

Total number of students from the foreign countries is more than 800(500 Indian students) already studying in university. The student are from India, Sweden, Denmark, Bulgaria, Nigeria, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Sierra-Leone etc.

THE MEDICAL FACULTY (“PEDISTRICS SPECIALITY”)
The course of study comprises 5+1 academic years. The syllabuses of fundamental subjects are very close to those of the “General Medical Practice”; however, much attention is aid to the peculiarities of the vitality of infantile organism. There is multitude of clinical subjects where the student study paediatrics and subjects. where the student study paediatrics and surgery of a child’s age. Those, who successfully complete their education, acquire the Degree of patients at children, hospital, continue their study and be involved in research work.

AT THE STOMATOLOGY FACULTY
The curriculum is worked out for five Academic years. The student master the basic subject of medical and biological profile, as well as successful completion of the study the graduates, are given the Degree of a doctor –dentist. The curriculum foresees further postgraduate education.

PRE- MEDICAL COURSE
This is intensive program for student wishing to continue their studies at the university, The duration of the preparatory course is upto eight months.

THE FACULTY OF POSTGRADUATES
Education offers the study in more than 40 medical specialities at the internship, mastership and clinical internship. The curriculum is worked out for 2/3 years.

THE BOLOGNA PROCESS
The Bologna Process aims to create a European Higher Education Area in which student can choose from a wide and transparent range of high-quality courses and benefit from smooth recognition procedures.

EUROPEAN CREDIT TRANSFER AND ACCUMULATION SYSTEM (ECTS)
ECTS makes teaching and learing more transparent and facilitates the recognition of studies (formal, non formal and informal) The system is used across Europe for credit transfer (student mobility ) and credit accumulation(learning paths towards a degree).It’s also inform curriculum design and quality assurance.

According to the result of the state licensed examination “KROK -1 , KROK -2 , KROK -3” has stable leading position  among all higher medical schools and faculties in Ukraine. At the department of Uzhhorod , along with traditional ways of teaching , there is also module study , and a throughout program of student’s practice. Constantly developing base of computerised equipment gives the possibility to use modern PC know – how and world information networks in the process of study.

DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAM
Pomeranian University in Slupsk (Slupsk, Poland)

On 20 June 2014,  an agreement on co-operation between Uzhhorod National University and Pomeranian University in Slupsk was signed, which will provide an opportunity for UZNU students to study and receive education in Poland higher educational institution at the same time.

Foreign citizens may arrive in Ukraine to the Kiev international Airport. Student must inform the university the day and time of arrival number of the flight and return tivket with open date of return with validity upto one year. University’s representative meet the arriving student and afterwards accompany them to the place of destination.

TERM AND ADMISSION OF FOREIDN CITIZENS
The foreign citizens who wish to get the education at the Uzhhorod National University have to summit the following information in English language:

• Complete name
• Citizenship
• Date of birth
• Passport copy
• Educational certificates copy

On the basic of this information university will send official invitation letter for study. In order to draw up an entry visa the foreign citizen who has got the official invitation has to apply tp tha nearest Embassy or consulate of Ukraine.

To get visa for Ukraine the foreign citizens have to submit the following documents.

1. Official invitation letter for study;
2. Copy of the document certifying received an education with a list of disciplines and grades;
3. Documents certifying the unavailability of AID’s infection;
4. Document certifying the birth certificate.
5. Return ticket with an (with a period of validity upto one year )
6. 6 passport size photos

The document stated in the paragraphs 2,4 should be certified in compliance with the legislation of the countries which issued them and legalized according to established procedure provided that this is not stipulated by international agreement of Ukraine.

ACCOMMODATION 
Uzhhorod Natioanl University has a very good hostel system with fully furnished rooms, The University posses 3 hostels. All the rooms equipped with bed, mattress, pillow, blanket, desk, chair, heater and suitable lighting for study.  There are Separate hostel building for India students.

CLIMATE
Uzhhorod experience moderate winter with an average temperature in January being -1 to -2 degree Celsius. Summer would be warm with an average temperature in July being +30 degree Celsius .The climate is Mediterranean like that in Italy, Greece and Cyprus etc.

CURRENCY & BANKING
All financial transactions are conducted in Ukrainian currency –“Grieven”. Student are advised to open bank in Uzzhorod . All Ukrainian Banks have links with Banks in USA, Canada & European countries to facilitate transfer of fund from any part of world.

EXPENSES
Personal living expenses is estimated to be US$80-90 per month. They can adjust their expenses with in limit of their spending

FOOD
There are many asian food outlets such as Indian, Arabian etc. There few kabba outlets operated by Middle East student and Mc Donald & KFC just outside the campus.

JASMINE CAFE
Cafe is already providing Delicious north Indian, South Indian Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian and European food to all students in the University Campus. Student can take 2 meals a day and one time tea at Nominal charges of only 90-100 US$ per month and 1000$ per year.

FLIGHT
Currently Aeroflot, Uzbekistan, Turkish Airlines, Air Arabia, Air Astana, Turkmenistan Airlines flies to (Kiev) via Moscow, Tashkent, Istanbul, and Ashkabad respectively to different cities of Ukraine.
