IVANO FRANKIVSK NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University (IFNMU) is situated in Ivano city in North-West of Ukraine and it is a leading higher education establishment of the region of a classical type with a higher accreditation level. The University history started in 1945, Total number of students from the foreign countries is more than 1000 (700 Indian students) already studying in University. The student are from India, Sweden , Denmark , Bulgaria , Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Kenya, Canada, USA, Uganda, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe, Zambia ,Sierra- Leone etc.

The UNIVERSITY IS RECOGIBED BY MEDICAL COUNCIL OF INDIA Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University is one of the oldest and leading medical University of Ukraine. It provides high quality education to students who are looking for quality education at an affordable course fees. The Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University trains specialists along the following education / qualification level: Under graduate, Junior specialist, specialists, Masters for the following specialties: GENERAL MEDICINE (Doctor of Medicine degree) -6 years course. The Medical course at the Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University takes six years and leads to MD(Doctor of Medicine) or MBBS.The medical faculty is founded in 1956.In the under graduate program, during six years of study the students learn different  subjects from fundamental subject disciplines to special medical subjects.

The medium of instruction in the Medical faculty is English and Russian language. The Ministry of education and Ministry of Public health, Ukraine approved the curriculum of the medical faculty,. The state final examination on all the disciplines according to the syllabus is held within one system through 2 stages: testing practical proficiency of final year students (when exam on clinical disciplines are taken, testing takes place at the patient’s bed).

DENTISTRY (Doctor of Dentistry degree)-5 year course
At the dentistry faculty the curriculum is worked out for five academic years. The students master the basic subject of medical and biological profile, as well as various clinical disciplines, which are so necessary for a dentist. On condition of successful completion of study the graduates are given the Diploma of a doctor – dentist. The curriculum foresees the further postgraduate education. The degree awarded is BDS.

PEDIATRICS (Doctor of Medicine degree)
The course of study comprises six academic years. The syllabuses of fundamental science are very close to those of the “General Medical”, however much attention is paid to the peculiarities of the vitality of infantile organism. Of the multitude of clinical subjects student study paediatrics and surgery of child’s age .Those, who successfully complete their education, acquire the diploma of paediatrician and can be engaged in treating patients at children hospitals,

PHARMACY (Bachelor of Pharmacy degree)
The faculty began training specialists’ pharmacists of general education “pharmaceutics”. At the pharmacological faculty the curriculum if five academic years. The student acquires the fundamentals medical and biology knowledge; learn in detail various subject in the speciality and some clinical ones. On successful completion of study the graduates get the diploma of pharmacist. The faculty train the student for work at the intuitions of pharmacy and also for research work. A powerful educational methodical base is being created for training highly qualified specialists. There are such department are as the pharmacognosy, Biology and genetics department and chemopharmaceutic disciplines department. Medical botany, Inorganic chemistry, Analytical, Physical and organic chemistry, method for analysis are taught at these department are supplied with all the necessary equipments, reagents and textbooks.

NURSING-3/4 year’s course
The faculty of nursing practice trains medical nurses-bachelors with higher medical education. The applications with medical (those who have finished medical intuitions of the first grade accreditation) are admitted to the University. The course of study lasts two academic years for day time department and three academic years for part time department. At first student study fundamental medical and biological disciplines .Then they study clinical subjects and nursing in different situation .Practical training together with theoretical one are gives both at different department of University and clinics. The graduates get the diploma of bachelor.

Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University prepare specialists in more than 90 medical specialities. Teaching Staff 443 teachers, among them 77 PhDs, 264 candidates for PhD and 19 Academicians, including five Honoured Science and Technique Workers of Ukraine, one Honoured Worker of public education of Ukraine, two honoured doctors of Ukraine, two Laureates of State prize of Ukraine carry out pedagogical, scientific, medical and educational work at 48 department.

Student and Graduates of Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University are eligible to participate in the United Sate Medial Licensing Examination (USMLE) & receive ECFMG certification. ECFMG certification requires all graduates to have passed USMLE step 1 &2 (both section), submit a final transcript and provide a copy of the graduate’s diploma for verification. Once ECFMG certificate is granted; graduates are eligible fir Postgraduates Medical education (Residency Training) in the United State of America.

BOLOGNA PROCESS: Courses offers by Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University follow the “Bologna process” with the objective of establishing a European Higher Education Area by 2010.A process driven by the 46 participating countries and the Council of Europe .The primary goal are as follows:

The Tempus Project Closing Conference “Modernizing Undergraduate     Medical Education in EU Eastern Neighbouring Area”— took place on 3^rd -4 th ,2014 of September at UNIVERSITY CATTOLICA del Sacro Cuore, Milan , Italy.

     The PCIT MUMEENA team from medical schools of Georgia , Ukraine, Azerbaijan  with participation of Medical Universities representatives of Italy, Great Britain , the Netherlands and Spain took part in final Conference, Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University  as an one of the stakeholder of the project was presented by Vice-rector Prof.,Hanna Strutynsky, Asso.Prof.Olga Burak,Head of the Department of ECTS and EQM ,Assoc. Prof., Vasyl Kapechuk.The main issue that were discussed at the Conference : the financial support of the final stage of the Project, Evaluation and quality of implementation MUMEENAO Program and further strategies toward further prolongation of project

Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program is the oldest and most prestigious international program for exchange of scholars and student funded by the United State government .Today it support academic exchanges with 155 countries of the world. Since the inception of the Fulbright Program in Ukraine, Nearly 900 Ukrainian scholar, students, and professionals have travelled to the United State.

MUMEENA  is a 1.3m Tempus European , 36 month project which starts in October 2011 involving four EU medical Schools and three partner countries, The Countries collaborating on the project are: AZERBAIJAN, UKRAINE, GEORGIA ,  NETHERLANDS, ITLAY, SPAIN AND UNITED KINGDOM, OUR AIM IS TO IMPROVE MEDICAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN EASTERN EUROPE. The project and partnership within AZERBAIJAN, UKRAINE and GEORGIA in order to create and implement an educational experience that produces great doctors and researches of the future.

Leeds institute of Medical Education (LIME) team has led the project successfully over the last 18 months. The MUMEENA teams in the collaborating and partner countries have introduced pilot courses in CBCR (Case Based Clinical Reasoning) and RSC (Research skills) into the Undergraduates Medical curriculum with in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine .The teaching material for the new are being developed and translated into the corresponding languages by the team member in these countries languages by the team member in these countries.

We have created Teacher Training Centres in Georgia and Ukraine are currently establishing a Teacher Training Centre in Azerbaijan .To accomplish so much in 18 months MUMEENA delegates have had training in Utrecht on CBCR, in LEEDS ON Faculty Development and in Granada on Research Skills. There is training in Public Health scheduled in Rome in June 2013. Georgia and Ukraine have successfully hosted MUMEENA conferences in 2012 for the purpose of dissemination and training and a further conference has been scheduled in Azerbaijan in October 2013.

TRANSFER TO IVANO FRANKIVSK NATIONAL MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, UKRAINE

          Students with transfer credit who apply to Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University must submit the scanned copy of the following documents:

Students can send the documents by email. Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University accepts qualified transfer students from other universities. We operate on semester system. Admission will be based on your overall academic record. Some programs are very competitive and the requirement for consideration will likely be higher.

HOSTEL: Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University possesses an excellent system of hostel accommodation. It owns three hostel buildings with capacity of over 2000 students.

Rooms are fully furnished and consist of an apartment like system with a two bed and a three bed room with an attached toilet. On each floor there is a common hall and a common kitchen for cooking. On the ground floor there is a gym cum recreation center including a table tennis table.

Hostel rooms come furnished with beds, mattress, pillows, blanket, two side tables, one cupboard per room and one table and chair per room. Occupants get a weekly change of bed-sheet and pillow case. Hot water is available in designated hours. All rooms are centrally heated. A plumber, carpenter and electrician are available on call.

LIBRARY: The university has highly technology library : about 3 million exemplars on paper medium powerful electron library IFNMU Library is a recipient of a prize (II degree diploma) of All – Ukrainian contest “Library of the Year 2009”

CURRENCY : Hryvnya (UAH) = 100 Kopiyak (singular- Kopiyka). Notes are in denomination of 200, 100, 50, 10, 5, 2 and 1 Hryvnya. Coins are denominated in 50, 25, 10; 5.Foreign currency is really changed at numerous currency exchanges on the streets or in banks. International ATM cards works in most of the ATMs.

LETTER OF CURRENCY: For Admission to the University and issue of visa for travel to Ukraine, the student will first send their high school mark sheet and a copy of the passport with name, passport number and date of birth of student.

DOCUMENTS FOR VISA

             Documents needed for the Visa are:

1. Copy of the Document of Education with the list of studied courses (subjects) and received grades (points or marks) in original
2. A copy of the Certificate of Birth in original
3. Health Certificate by an authorized clinic issued not more than two month before the date of entry to Ukraine
4. Document showing the absence of HIV infection, unless otherwise provided by international agreements of Ukraine
5. Insurance policy for emergency medical care (except for foreigners having arrived from countries with which agreements on free provision of emergency medical care concluded)
6. 12 passport sized photos Issue of Visa by Embassy :Document are to be certified , legalized and translated to Ukrainian before submission to the Embassy of Ukraine covering the students home country. The Embassy may hold a personal interview of the student to established credentials; before issue of visa. Student Visa are issues from Mid August till Mid November. Transfer to Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University, Ukraine.

ARRIVAL IN UKRAINE

                Students must enter Ukraine before the 15^th of November with complete documents and translations. They must inform the university about date of travel; port of entry; name, number, and the arrival time of the flight. The University informs Immigration Department of Arrival of the student.
