Dnepropetrovsk Medical Academy or the DMA centre of education, science and culture is one of the highest educational institutions of Ukraine. It holds the exemplary record of being the finest medical academy founded in 1916, with the intention and objective to develop medical professionals who have the zeal to excel in both the research and the clinical practice.

The medical academy is situated in Dnepr, which is the fourth largest city in Ukraine. The academy has always encouraged international students for medical courses and opens its doors for more and more development for them.

Accreditation and ranking

DMA is considered as one of the oldest higher educational institutions which also ranks 5th among all the other institutions which are in-and-around Ukraine. The academy holds the IVth (the highest) level of accreditation.

Courses offered at the University

The University has been considered by the international students who believe and perceive that the academy would give them medical training with different medical faculties concerning the clinical practice. And also put them through some of the intense preparatory modules of  General Medicine (GM), Paediatrics, Dentistry, Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Pharmacy, Nursing.

The faculty of postgraduate education at the academy conducts the postgraduate training in three major areas such as:

  • Medical Internships with hospitals
  • Retraining the medical specialists with reference specific disease management

The most striking and integral component with the medical academy is the introduction of KROK Assessment System for students (KROK Assessment Test is a kind of licensing examination, which becomes the obligatory component which rewards the qualification of doctor or pharmacists.)

In the medical academy, the KROK Assessment is generally during the 3rd year of MBBS, and the students go through a stringent KROK syllabus such as:

Human Anatomy, Pharmacology, Histology, Cytology, Embryology, Microbiology, Virology, Immunology, Physiology, Path Physiology, Path Morphology.

The academy has got its exclusive tie-up with the United States Medical Fraternity, where the students are subjected to the Objective Structural Clinical Exam (OSCI) exam. The OSCI assessment is carried out by the academy, which is a well-planned, structured and objective way for a student when he examines a patient.

The assessment becomes the final exam, where the student is independently allowed to examine a patient in the outpatient department (OP) and conduct the preliminary diagnosis and then prescribe the treatment after the diagnosis.


The academy rose to prominence because it has got integrated with the state-of-the-art learning paradigm with more emphasis on the practical pursuits.

It offers pre-medical, undergraduate and postgraduate courses for students.

The pre-medical level would begin with a preparatory course, and the focus is for getting into more and more basic learning of the medical syllabus.

The undergraduate studies would include the core subjects of General Medicine, Pediatrics, Stomatology, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy.

The postgraduate studies would include the in-depth of the core subjects as mentioned above and follow by an internship at the academy.  Students can also apply for PhD programmes at the academy for clinical fellowship during their post-doctoral.
